Welcome to the Heavy Metal Wanaka Podcast

Today I speak with Mark Heylmun- the guitarist for Suicide Silence, talking all about the bands new self titled album- an album that has many  courted comment from many online.

The band's career kicked off alongside the rise in popularity of the Heavy Metal Sub-genre, 'Deathcore'. As what seems to be typical in such an environment, deathcore encountered a certain amount of vocal resistance in heavy metal communities at large early on.

However, with Suicide Silence generally moving away from the genre with their new self titled  album, that too has been met with vocal resistance online.
As I mention in the interview, I do recall finding some early material released by the band, back in the old myspace days.

At the time, my interest was certainly more that piqued with the Family Guy soundclip fixed to the start of such a brutal song.
