The Heavy Metal Wanaka Show Ep. 10


Welcome to The Heavy Metal Wanaka Show Episode 10.
There's a selection of music for you this week, and in the excitement of a rock / metal band visiting Wanaka (i.e. Devilskin playing at Rhythm N Alps 30th December) I regale listeners with the story of how I got involved in the local street team for it.

Alongside the names we know are going to kick ass, like Devilskin, The Agonist, Sikth, Allegaeon etc, I stumble across a couple new gems that might pique your interest, as they have mine:

- "Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard" where musically they might be within the ball park of what you might expect, they throw a wee bit of an interesting curveball with the vocals.

- "Sisters of Suffocation", this all female brutal band take the 'Kittie' approach to member selection in a male dominated field and show everyone how it's done- regardless of who the hell you are!

Metallica's James Hetfield spotted wearing a Ricky-Gervais-style plain black shirt...

* I do not own the photographs shown, Google search helped me locate these.  Fashion faux-pas are hardly an issue the realm of Heavy Metal or Comedy, for that matter, but a recent trend of celebrities wearing Heavy Metal Band branded clothing has overshadowed what seems to be a push back trend, that no one seems to be talking about: Heavy Metal celebrities wearing normal clothing. The ultra-funny comedian, writer, tv series creator Ricky Gervais, has a real life image much sharper than his break through on-screen persona, David Brent. Similarly, James Hetfield, enigmatic front man of global Heavy Metal icons and super-legends, Metallica, has ever been at the fore of alternative culture, displaying his various facial hair or mullet features proudly over the years. How could a British comedian and a heavy metal icon have anything common? No comment sought or received from either celebrities management regarding this matter. Follow me on all of these:-
